Murdoch Lecture: Elite Female Connections and Influence in Mid-Tudor England
EMILY CHAMBERS
Thursday 6 October 2022
Venue: Melville Civic Centre, courtesy of the City of Melville
Emily will discuss the importance of personal contacts and connections to eight Tudor noble women in mid-sixteenth century England. The lecture will look particularly at their connections within their households and on the estates. Elite women were able to build up local affinities through their relationships with retainers, officials, and neighbours. Emily graduated in history from Murdoch University, then MA at the University of Leeds, and is undertaking a PhD at the University of Nottingham.
